The History of Idaho Broadcasting Foundation

invites you to our next public meeting

-

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

from 11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.

-

at Smoky Mountain Pizza and Pasta

-

Located at 415 Parkcenter Blvd. in Boise.

-

The restaurant is located at the former Parkcenter Mall, across from Albertson’s Corporate Offices at the Corner of Parkcenter and Mallard Dr. The is a “no-host” lunch and you can order anything right off the menu. The food and service is great!

-

The Program will be on the history of KGEM-AM and KCID-AM which are both in the process of being sold by Journal Broadcast Group to Salt and Light, a local Catholic Church organization. Since both stations will change formats (and maybe call letters etc.) soon, this may be a last “farewell” to these two great radio stations.

-

We will have pictures and memorabilia, as well as audio clips from both stations including a short audio aircheck from KGEM in 1962 featuring Larry Lujack (yes, the same Larry Lujack of WLS Chicago fame) recorded by Member Gil Rose Jr., and a couple of short clips from Del Chapman on KIDO recorded in late 1961. Well also hear short clips from John Runkle from 1962 on KGEM, and KCID’s sign-on and sign-off from 1972 featuring announcer Sam Bass!

-

We encourage anyone and everyone who worked at KCID or KGEM to attend and to share their memories, which will be recorded on tape and will be part of our permanent achieves on these two great radio stations! Bring anything you have to share with the group! If you have tapes you’d like us to play…please let us know ahead of time.

-

Seating is limited (25-30 people) so please let us know if you will be attending…we may need to reserve a BIGGER room!
