The True Story of a Farm Boy from Kuna…and

a City Girl from Pocatello and their 50-year-trip

from small-town-radio to Big City Television…

and then back to small town radio!

Norm Gunning in 1972 at the Anchor Desk of KBOI-TV Channel 2 in Boise

Paula and Norm Gunning will tell “how it all began” at a 10-watt FM station in Pocatello.

A detour to Vietnam was followed by stops at KBOI in Boise, KOIN in Portland & KIRO in

Seattle where Norm was Assignment Manager and Paula was editor of a weekly newspaper.

Next, was Weiser, where they jumped head-first into small town radio

As the owners and operators of KWEI AM and the new KWEI-FM !

They then moved back to Portland, where Paula was Credit/Collections Manager for several

radio stations owned by CBS and Norm was Assignment Manager at KATU for 11 years!

After that, Norm did Radio News at two of Portland's largest AM stations KXL and KEX.

Then finally, it was back to KATU for another seven years until they both retired in 2009.

But wait there’s more!  Norm then did part-time radio news at KPAM-AM for 6 yrs before

moving from Portland to Meridian in 2016, where Norm now volunteers at KBSU-FM!
