We’ll honor

Bill Frahm

Former Chief Engineer of KBOI AM & FM

Who worked for KBOI from 1974-2019 and is

retiring in June after 45 years at the same station!

A rare photo of Bill in 2010 as KBOI-FM celebrates 50 Years on the air!

President Art Gregory will trace Bill’s interest in

Broadcasting from West Junior High School, and at

Borah High where he met Foundation Vice President

Frank Aden Jr., and future radio-pro Casey Keating!

Bill was hired in 1974 by KBOI Program Director,

Member Marty Holtman, as an announcer. When

Member Charles Wilson bought KBOI in 1975, Bill

began working with Chief Engineer Milt Daniels and

eventually became KBOI AM & FM’s Chief Engineer!

Charles Wilson was very successful, and was one of the

first broadcasters in Boise to take advantage of an “LMA”

with Nampa’s 96.9 KLCI-FM (“Rock 97), eventually buying

the station at an auction on the courthouse steps! Bill then

had 3 stations to take care of! When “consolidation” was

legal in 1996, Charles Wilson bought KIZN-FM & KZMG-FM

and Bill was now Engineer of four FM stations, plus Idaho’s

only 50,000 watt AM! The next year, KBOI was to celebrate

50 years on air in May 1997, and five months later, Citadel

bought all five of Charles’ stations and took over operation

in late 1997. Bill then worked for Citadel when it was run by

Larry Wilson, and also after it was bought by Forstmann Little.

Bill continued working for KBOI in the engineering department

after Cumulus purchased Citadel in late 2011, and has worked at

KBOI for 45 years - longer than anyone except Paul J. Schneider!

Paul J, Chris Walton, and Coach Dan Hawkins

Please join us in honoring a man who is too humble to

to want this celebration, but instead is honored to have
